Joseph's College has built a reputation for producing talented sports stars
To enable pupils to compete successfully, they need to be given a sound foundation and expert tuition. In order for each child to find the sport he or she does best, they should be provided with a full range of opportunities. For a child to do well in sport, they need to have talent, but they also require motivation, enjoyment and focus. All of this is encouraged from an early age at St Joseph’s College Preparatory School.
Sport plays a key role in developing life skills. Teamwork, communication, testing ourselves to the limit, maintaining concentration and stamina are all important. It is also essential to keep young bodies fit and healthy as they grow. The skills developed at an early age can provide each individual with the ability to stay fit and healthy throughout life.
Pupils at St Joseph’s College Preparatory School are encouraged to take part in a number of different sports on offer including Athletics, Netball, Football, Swimming, Life Saving, Ballet & Dance, Rounders and Tennis as well as the annual Inter House Sports Day competition. We share a swimming pool with the College and as all children have a weekly swimming lesson from Year 2 onwards, by the time they reach Year 6 their standard of swimming and diving is extremely high. Teams regularly take part in matches against other Independent schools and children are encouraged to attend after school practice sessions. Physical education is an essential part of the curriculum and children are taught by PE specialists throughout the school.
