Our aim is to give pupils the tools to interpret their own world and understand their responsibility in caring for it. We seek to create an enjoyable learning environment for our pupils in many different ways

We encourage our pupils to be open-minded and inquisitive about their world. We celebrate the pupils work through lively and up to date displays of their own work.

We take each year group out of the classroom to gain their own experience of collecting and analysing data through fieldwork. For example, our Year 12 pupils visit different areas of woodland to compare the differences between the features of coniferous forests and deciduous forests.

We use a variety of teaching activities to ensure that lessons are lively and challenge our pupils. We encourage our pupils to be enthusiastic, open-minded and inquisitive; our lessons include games, role plays and debates. Geography homework tasks involve different activities such as writing newspaper articles and creating products made entirely from recycled materials as well as producing pieces of descriptive and extended writing in different genres.

Years 7 to 9 examples of topics covered include Farming, Antarctica, Plate Tectonics, Globalisation of Fashion, Tropical Rain Forests and Hot Deserts.

At GCSE, we follow the OCR specification which covers the physical topics such as Coasts, Volcanic Activity; Industry and Farming are some Human Geography topics studied.

At  A level we follow the AQA Geography A specification which explores both Physical and Human Issues in depth with exciting topics in Food and Health Issues.
